Looking forward to part 2
i have enjoyed seeing this musician explode upon the music scene in the last 15 years or so.
his mix of blues, jazz, rock & roll with great musicians playing uncommon instruments seen in a rock band - make his music all the more interesting !
here are some of my favorite cd's and songs by him and his band .
One of my "favoritest" bands of all time. I had the opportunity to see them very early in their career - '93-94 (absolutely AWESOME). They really haven't changed that much. In my opinon, they're much better live than in the studio. Each member of the band is an outstanding musician and they love to just jam. Its been a few years since I've seen them (since I've been to any concert - one of the drawbacks of parenthood) but the last show I saw was a huge stadium and honestly they were almost as good there as when I saw them in a small club.
I can't pick a favorite song, too many.
excommunication/disfellowshipping is pagan practice!--by request!
request from researcher: hi atlantis or n. or whoever!
one of my friends on the board said that she downloaded the 1947 awake pdf that "bereanbiblestudent and invetigator 74" posted, and in the first issue on page 26, it said that excommunication or disfellowshipping was a pagan practice.
I have now officially seen it all. Wow, just wow.
sitting at home on a friday night - browsing through all the jw groups on facebook and this catches my eye.... we help support our full-time ministry with this website.
please have a look at the "watchtower" -style pins and pendants.
with a link to this website http://jeffreydesign.com/index.php?main_page=index&cpath=7 aside from the fact that it really ain't pretty, how pukeworthy is this??
Thank you for your kind comments. Of course this Jewelry is not intended to be thought of as anything but Jewelry. The Watchtower-style Jewelry is also something that will identify us as witnesses, for the most part only to other witnesses who would recognize it. I'm glad you liked it!
Yet you can't wear a cross, etc. Whoa, this is not WTS approved. Whoever owns this could easily be facing a JC.
the watchtower attempts to create a semblance of logic to its allowance of blood fractions by presenting the concept that blood consists of four primary "components".
use of these components are unchristian.
these components can be broken into "fractions", which are acceptable to use.
Right. I remember when I still believed and "fractions" started being acceptable, I spent literally hours researching which of the acceptable fractions would really be ok. I was using the logic presented by the WTS that some of the plasma "fractions" (I think the proteins but don't remember for sure) were passed from mother to infant and since God allowed the sharing in that situation, it should be ok. Well, in that research I found out that a whole lot more than plasma proteins are passed and that WBCs are in breast milk. That was the first time I openly researched a WTS stand on anything outside of WTS literature.
I was stunned when hemoglobin was allowed since that is the main component of RBCs.
To me, this whole position is just a baby step to making the medical use of blood a "conscience" matter that will not receive discipline or be considered a DA'ing act (which it is today). They couldn't just drop the blood ban cold because of the lawsuits. I'm convienced this is a well thoughtout plan to attempt to mitigate lawsuits. The use of whole blood and even just the banned components has been reduced medically as the technology improves to allow doctors to use only what they need. So, although people are dying because of this stupid rule, there are not as many as there were in the past.
I believe there will come a time in the not too distant future (either a sucessful lawsuit or the death of the major forces with Bethel that are behind the ban) when the medical use of blood will be viewed as an organ transplant. They've already laid the groundwork anyway, especially in that Blood Awake from last summer. Of course, they won't apologize or make restitution for all the deaths their wrong policy caused and lay any blame at the feet of the r&f. But, what else is new?

I see JWs are not the only ones with horrible child abuse policies. How long is the government going to allow people to hurt kids under the protection of the 1st Amendment? I'm all for freedom to worship how you see fit but the first amendment didn't entitle complete freedom of worship. Only that the government would not establish a state religion. There are always limits to freedom and in my opinon, the line is crossed when someone else gets hurt, especially kids.
the org will stop charging interest on kh building fund loans effective sep 1, 2008. current loan payment amounts will remain the same so the loans can be paid off sooner.. congregations should continue to donate to the kh building fund, and publishers can donate directly to the fund by sending donations directly to the branch.
congregations are encouraged to forward surplus congregation and operating funds to the branch until the time those funds are needed by the congregation (this was actually read to the congregation...talk about full disclosure).. this is for all branches and congregations, not just the u.s..
This has got to be motivated by taxes. Now it makes sense why they want the congregations to send all available funds to be held on deposit. Its an attempt to make up the money they'll be losing on the interest charges.
"it's the truth because it follows the bible, rejects the trinity and hellfire, engages in worldwide preaching.".
i hear that from the jw's in my life.
the last time, i challenged the aspect of a worldwide preaching work.. i said that the work is barely scratching the surface in 2/3rds of the world- muslim, hindu, buddist lands.
A@G - Would you be interested in posting the entire letter (or if you have already, direct me to the post). I love the way you set out argument using the WTS's own words.
OTWO- The reality is that "it's the truth because I want to believe it's the truth". Until someone is willing to look at the facts without bias, they'll never be convienced.
FYI - I have one of the 2006 paperback printing NWTs and it has removed all the brackets including the scripture in question. I leafed through it yesterday and I don't see anything notifying the reader of the change. Actually, I'm suprised they didn't do that a long time ago. So much for being "the most well respected translation".
